Back-to-Back Recognition: GC Powerlist 2024
I am honored to share that for the second consecutive year, I have been included in the GC Powerlist, joining an exceptional group of legal leaders recognized for their impact on business strategy and resilience.
This acknowledgment in 2024 reflects not just personal effort, but the dedication of my entire team, a team of eight talented professionals who bring discipline, creativity, and courage into every challenge we face.
Leading Through Instability
Periods of instability are when the role of a general counsel is tested most. My approach has always been proactive: building legal frameworks that don’t just protect the company, but actively enable it to adapt.
Since joining Tesla Group, I have worked to ensure that our contracts, compliance measures, and governance structures are designed for both short-term resilience and long-term growth. In a sector where regulations shift quickly, particularly around sustainability standards, this means constantly anticipating change, engaging with regulators, and aligning legal risk management with the company’s broader strategy.
The result is a legal function that acts not as a constraint, but as an accelerator of resilience.
Introducing Sustainability Into Law and Practice
At Tesla Group, sustainability is not a side project, it is the business model. My role as chief legal officer is to embed that principle into the company’s DNA: in governance structures, in supplier contracts, in compliance frameworks, and even in how we finance growth.
One of the priorities I have championed is sustainable financing, including the integration of green bonds and other eco-aligned solutions that both meet capital needs and reinforce our commitment to the environment.
By aligning our legal frameworks with EU priorities such as the European Green Deal, we ensure that sustainability is not only a compliance requirement, but a competitive advantage.
The Future of Legal: Technology as a Game Changer
Looking ahead, I believe AI, blockchain, and data analytics will fundamentally reshape the legal profession. AI is already transforming due diligence and contract review. Blockchain offers enormous potential for secure, automated transactions through smart contracts. Data analytics allows us to see patterns and risks that were invisible before.
For me, staying ahead means being curious, engaged, and adaptable. I participate in legal tech forums, attend innovation-focused conferences, and encourage my team to adopt new tools that make us faster, sharper, and more efficient. Legal must not lag behind business innovation, it must lead alongside it.
Recognition as Motivation
Being listed in the GC Powerlist 2024, after also being included in 2023, is not just a recognition of past work. It is a reminder of the responsibility we carry as legal leaders, to protect, to enable, and to innovate.
For me, it is also a motivation to keep raising the bar: to continue building resilient frameworks, to ensure sustainability is not negotiable, and to embrace the technologies that will define the future of law.
